My Role—Product design, packaging design
The Nuzzle app works with the smart collar to provide a convenient way for people to stay connected to and better care for their animal friends. We also created a brand identity for Nuzzle that symbolizes the affection that everyone has for their pets. On the app, users can check where their pet is, what they're doing, as well as purchase the Nuzzle pet insurance. We designed a modular system for the front page of the app where it updates you about 1.where you pet is (outside vs. inside using geofencing) and 2. what your pet is doing (based on an activity monitor inside the device). We wanted the user to feel like the pet was actually speaking to them, so we went with a friendly, first-person narrative. It was crucial that the user was notified immediately once the pet left the geofenced area, so on top of push notification, we also replaced the pet profile photo with a crop view of your pet's location on the map.
The packaging of the device was also a fun challenge because the device had so many elements to it, including batteries, charger, cables, collar, and the activity/gps tracker. We made sure that the out of box experience was as streamlined as possible by implementing a layered system to the packaging. The outside of the cylinder box elevates the brand language by echoing the shape of the collar, and also having airy visuals accented with the Nuzzle custom gradient on the sides.
