My Role—Product design, packaging design
Recognition—TIME Magazine's "The 25 Best Inventions of 2016"
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF partnered with us to design the UNICEF Kid Power Band, a durable, child-friendly wearable-for-good. This project was interesting because it required us working within extreme constraints, mainly a 32 x 128px dot matrix screen with limited touch capabilities. It also needed to work well with the companion app that had a very rich experience. We designed an entirely new bitmap typeface for them, along with icons and animations that celebrate the user's achievements.
We also designed the packaging for the band. Taking into account sustainability and environmental footprint, we created an experience that was both fun and true to the Unicef Kid Power brand. The plastic casing can be taken out and be used for storing the Kid Power band, as well as any extra accessories they may have. The graphics on the packaging was also designed to be flexible and be able to support all of their partnerships with different brands, such as Star Wars.
